Lake Hiawatha is one of the unincorporated communities in New Jersey located just within the Parsippany-Troy Hills in Morris County with its ZIP code being 07034. The area was said to have been created because of a collision of a chain of volcanic islands to the North American plate. Those islands which went over the plate thus created New Jersey’s highlands.
Being an unincorporated community in the state of New Jersey, Lake Hiawatha is a well-defined community that is part of an incorporated municipality but is not independent in its own right. Parsipanny is a township with its name known to have come from the word parsipanong. The name is said to mean “the place where the river winds through the valley”.
